The Buffalo Sabres have now lost 11 in a row and as each day passes it seems there is no end in sight.
We’re just over a week and a half removed from Kevyn Adams saying that the team’s performance has been “unacceptable” and the team has only gotten worse since that day.
Buffalo started the game with two (2)… that’s right.. two shots on goal in the first period. And it only went downhill from there.
Washington was dominant in every aspect of the game. The Sabres genuinely allowed too many goals to break each one down, but Ovi’s was one to note.
The great eight notched the 717th goal of his career, tying Phil Esposito for 6th on the NHL’s all-time goal scoring list.

Vitek Vanecek continues to be a Sabre killer, he picked up his first career shutout and now has three wins against the Sabres and a 1.92 GAA and a 0.938 sv% in his four games facing Buffalo.
When Vanecek wasn’t making the saves himself, the Sabres were making it easy for him.
Buffalo was shutout in back-to-back games for the second time this season, and things have gone from good to average to bad to flat out disastrous.
Taylor Hall perfectly sums up the Sabres season….

Kyle Okposo also weighed in from the players’ perspective:
The Sabres don’t have a long time to dwell on another bad loss because they pare back in action again Tuesday night against the New Jersey Devils, the team that started this losing streak.
