October 2020 NHL Draft Rankings – @CurtisTCB716

My initial rankings for the 2020 Draft can be seen below.  The stats shown will update live if anyone is interested in keeping up to date with the players.  As the season goes on, I will develop a larger scale stat tracker for all to see that will give an at a glance view of all draft eligible prospects and how their current league points per game would translate to an NHL equivalent points per game.

Right off the bat, this year projects to have a stronger top 10 than last year and perhaps several years back.  Lafreniere and Byfield are the consensus 1 and 2 but a hot start with Sudbury has some wondering if Byfield can close the gap on Lafreniere who has been the projected 1st overall pick for about 2 years now.  Both players are high level talents that are producing points at an incredible rate which early on are close to what Crosby and Mcdavid put up in the their draft years.

Unlike the draft last year which was headlined by several members of the US NTDP U18 team, this year has several players from Canada, Sweden, and Finland all projected to go near the top and even another high end goaltender from Russia (Askarov) who could crack the top 10.

The top defender at this point in time is right handed Jamie Drysdale who plays for the Erie Otters in the OHL.  Drysdale joins an ever growing list of mobile offensive minded defenders who is able to drive play with great skating ability and offensive instincts.

As the year goes on, the rankings from the TCB community will be updated and also provide in depth analysis on some of the high profile players that are draft eligible.  A focus on players that could get drafted by the Sabres will also ramp up once their draft position becomes clearer.
