2019 TCB Mock Draft 1.0

The Buffalo Sabres will pick 7th overall in the 2019 NHL Draft. Joe and Bill will have multiple mock drafts before the NHL Draft on June 21 in Vancouver.

The hope is to have St. Louis get bounced in the first round and one of the underdogs to win a series. Buffalo keeps the St. Louis pick if it’s in the teens and send the SJ first rounder to Anaheim , but if not, Buffalo send the STL pick and keeps the SJ pick. Note that after the playoffs are over, the picks will be set so the Sabres will have no limitations moving any of their first round picks.

A winger that has good size (6’2″, 190 lbs) and a powerful stride with multiple top level tools as a playmaker and a sniper while responsible in his own end. He’ll do anything necessary to win and he’s consistent. All of these attributes has been and continues to be an area of desperate need for the Sabres. 

25th – Nils Hoglander

A speedy winger with a great motor who excels in stick handling and passing. He goes to the tough areas, which is something you like to see from a player that also has breakaway speed. Playing for Rogle BK in the SHL, you know he’s on Botterill’s radar.

He’s that second line center the Sabres need. Solid in his own zone, plays with pace and can setup teammates. Get him some scoring wingers and he’ll give you the full array of abilities. Zegras is committed to Boston University next season.

25th – Bobby Brink
