Bylsma and Murray Kicked to Curb in Shocking FO Shake-Up

There had been reports that the meetings between Tim Murray and Terry Pegula would bring upon a reckoning of sorts and those proved to be true Thursday afternoon.

In the first bold move of the Sabres offseason the team relieved General Manager Tim Murray of his duties. Murray was hired in 2014 and spearheaded a rebuilding project that saw the team acquire key pieces Sam Reinhart and Jack Eichel in the NHL entry draft.

Bylsma was hired as a consolation prize after losing out on Mike Babcock who went to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Two years later with the Leafs and Babcock in the playoffs and the Sabres still stagnating, ownership figured a move must be made.

It will be interesting to see where the Sabres go to find their next GM. Dean Lombardi, formerly of the LA Kings, certainly seems like an attractive option. Coach is even more of who’s-who of names that feature Lindy Ruff and Darryl Sutter.

Its time once again to get aboard the rollercoater that is being a fan of the Sabres.
