RECAP:

Coming off of back to back losses to the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Carolina Hurricanes, the Sabres faced the Dallas Stars this afternoon and looked to turn it around after two very disappointing losses.

Tyler Ennis returned to the Sabres lineup today after missing 30 games from his double sports hernia surgery. 19 seconds into the 1st period Ennis ripped it past Kari Lehtonen to give Buffalo a very early 1-0 lead. For the 4th game in a row, the Sabres scored the 1st goal of the game. He also had a beautiful lacrosse wraparound shot that almost went in the net.

On a delayed penalty, Taylor Fedun scored but it was waved off because the puck hit a Dallas player’s skate. The Sabres headed to the powerplay right after that happened and Jake McCabe intercepted a bad pass by a Dallas player and he scored his 1st goal of the season. McCabe joins Rasmus Ristolainen and Cody Franson as the only Sabres defensemen to score a goal this season. Rasmus Ristolainen has 3 goals and Cody Franson has 1 goal. The Sabres are really in need of some more goals from their defensemen.

Kyle Okposo turned the puck over and the Stars 2012 1st round pick, Radek Faksa was able to somehow beat Robin Lehner to cut the deficit to 1 goal.

Stephen Johns took a shot from the point and Patrick Eaves tipped it past Robin Lehner but the goal didn’t count because the Sabres used their offside challenge.

Jack Eichel had a great game today. In the first period, he was getting a lot of shots off and was finally rewarded with his 9th goal of the season.

Eichel would also add an empty net goal to seal the deal for the Sabres. That was his 10th goal in 22 games this season.

The Sabres will face the red-hot Toronto Maple Leafs tomorrow night.
